Love this image from the Alchemical Tarot Deck by Robert Place

Nothing gives you dire like the more gothic and seemingly negative cards that liberally populate any Tarot deck.

And sometimes it seems that your spread is full of them and you might as well give up now.

No!

Me being me, I say look beyond the surface here, is it a lesson, is it a sign post, is it permission to let something go that is hurting you or holding you back?

This card, the three of swords - yes your heart is broken, yes it's still hurting but you don't have to keep those swords there, you don't have to keep carrying this around. Pull them out, you have learned the lesson! Then you can heal, and you will. That three is what you should focus on, not just the swords. They represent words, actions and intent. In other words this situation is Karmic. It takes these three to create Karma, good or bad. The good news is that this particular Karma is now done, you have experienced the pain, the anguish, the suffering and now - yes! pull those swords out, you are done.

So as challenging as this one looks, it has an end in sight for the negative emotions you are experiencing.

And this is true for most of the more daunting cards. There is always a positive potential, often a life changing one, for the better.
